Objective of the Golf Card Game
To be the player/ team with the lowest score for 18 holes.
Tied players/ teams continue playing additional holes until there is a winner.
Getting Started
To begin playing the golf card game remove the BB/Breakfast Ball and Mulligan Cards from the deck. Each player gets 1 BB/Breakfast Ball and 1 Mulligan Card at the start of the game. Shuffle the remaining 64-cards and place the deck in the middle of the players. The 64-card deck is reshuffled every 3 holes in a 3 or 4 player match. In a 2-player match shuffle the 64-card deck every 6 holes.
Each player draws 1 card at a time. Player 1 on the scorecard is the first to draw 1 card placing the card in front of them. Play continues clockwise with each player drawing 1 card at a time, placing it next to their previously drawn card. Example, on a Par 5 each player will draw 5 cards. Play continues in the same order for all 18 holes or play can continue using The Honors System.
Scoring, Action, Penalty/Bonus cards are defined below explaining how each card is eliminated during play. All cards are turned over when they are eliminated and remain in front of the players to keep track of the number of cards drawn on a hole. After all the players have drawn the required number of cards the scores are determined by all the face up cards in front of the players and are entered on the scorecard being used.
The Honors System
The player with the lowest score on the preceding hole has The Honors and starts the next hole. In the event of a tie on the preceding hole the player with the lowest score first has The Honors and starts the next hole.
Golf Scoring / Action Cards
There are 3 Scoring cards (Birdie, Par, and Bogey) and 1 Action card (Stroker) that contribute to a player’s score for each hole. The lowest scoring card is used with any Penalty/Bonus card(s) to calculate the player’s score for the hole. All cards are turned over when they are eliminated.
BIRDIE CARD (8)
A Birdie card eliminates all other Birdie, Par, Bogey, and Stroker Cards drawn on the hole. Turn over all eliminated cards.
PAR CARD (12)
A Par card eliminates all other Par, Bogey, and Stroker Cards drawn on the hole. Turn over all eliminated cards.
BOGEY CARD (12)
A Bogey card eliminates all other Bogey, and Stroker Cards drawn on the hole. Turn over all eliminated cards.
STROKER CARD (22)
In the event a player has drawn only stroker cards, or only has stroker cards in play on a hole then the player scores a par for the hole. When Stroker cards are eliminated by a scoring card, turn them over.
Penalty/Bonus Cards
All Penalty/Bonus cards on each hole are added or subtracted to the player’s Scoring card or Stroker card in play. If a player draws the -1 Bonus card and a+1 Penalty card on the same hole these cards eliminate each other and are turned over. If a player draws a -1 Bonus card and a+2 Penalty card on the same hole, the Bonus card reduces the +2 Penalty card by 1 stroke, these cards remain face up in front of the player.
+1 PENALTY CARD (8)
All +1 penalty cards add 1 stroke to the player’s score.
+2 OB PENALTY CARD (1)
The +2 OB Penalty card adds 2 strokes to a player’s score.
-1 BONUS CARD (1)
The -1 Bonus Card subtracts 1 stroke from the players score or eliminates a +1 Penalty card drawn or reduces the +2 OB Penalty card by 1 stroke. This card can generate an eagle or hole in one opportunity in the game.
